About Me
M. Erman Dirikcan was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1983. Started playing the guitar at the age of 12. After graduating Darussafaka High School, in the year 2001, started his Bachelor degree program with a full scholarship, on Jazz Performance and Composition at the Istanbul Bilgi University. At the conservatory, studied guitar with Donovan Mixon M.M., guitar and composition with Kamil Özler (TRT Turkish Radio and Television performer and composer), fretless guitar with Erkan Ogur and jazz composition with Selen Gülün. Has perform with Lloyd Chisholm, Ricky Ford, Imer Demirer, Cem Aksel, Erdal Akyol, Ediz Hafizoglu, Kaan Yildizoglu, Gerard Presencer, Dick de Graaf.. In the North Sea '07, has performed with Billy Hart, Cyro Baptista, Rick Margitza, Nelson Faria, Carlos Werneck, Josee Koning. Has been performing with the band Acil Servis, and has been touring around Turkey with Demir Demirkan till the end of the year 2006. Has performed with NEV, also performed with many other pop, rock and R&B bands and artists in and out of Istanbul in several music clubs, organizations and TV programs. Currently, he continues his further studies at the Codarts; Rotterdam Conservatory, studying with Ed Verhoeff, Paul Hock, Ronald Schmitz, and taking place in several projects as a sideman or band leader. He and his partner own the guitar school Gitar-ist in Istanbul, where he has been teaching since the year 2000.
