THE HAVENOT'S
In 1994, The Havenot's were born in Yokohama, where the US base located and
GI’s hanging around since the end of the WWII. With their ï½ï½•ï½Žï½‹ / ï½ï½ï½—ｅｒ　ï½ï½ï½/　ｃï½ï½•ï½Žï½”ｒｙ　blend
ed rock n roll samurai swords under their belts,
another punk rock assassin from Japan.
The Havenot's got a well recognition in the overseas before their homeland
same as Japan’s next generation bands like Guitar Wolf, Teengenerate and
Supersnazz. In 1998, the band has released the self titled debut LP in US on
Repent Records (run by Mike Lucas of Phantom Surfers), which had been in the chart of Maximum Rock n Roll over 4 months, and the band has received a people’s high praises in US, Euro and Japan. In 1999, the band toured US
for the first time and met a real rock n roll culture, which inspired the
band to start their own label Star Jets records, booking their own shows and
promoting all by themselves. The HAVENOTS introduced a total DIY sprit in
Yokohama as well as invited a lot of foreign acts such as The Donnas, Nikki
& the Corvettes, Phantom Surfers, Spazzys, Cants & Mach Pelican.
The Havenot's had a few line up changes and now it’s been set as the
strongest three consist of a founding member Matt Aoki (Vocal/Guitar),
Shimmy (Bass/Vocal) and Kota (Drum) since 2004. The band have only released one LP “Self Titledâ€, one single “I Hate Music Star†and one split EP
with the Soviettes but they have established the strong fan bases all over
Japan doing over 70 shows a year as one of the hardest working DIY
Japanese band.
