life is not a rehearsal,as far as we know,so live it!

About Me

I know I'm not the oldest 'my space-er but my daughters, their friends etc think it's hilarious but here goes...no one calls me Deborah but that is my name and I do prefer Debbie,Deb or Debs.I'm 46 years old,no,I'm 46 years young, you see in my head I'm still 17!I've been happily married to Trev for 22 years,we share a very similar sense of humour, some tastes in music and many views on life,in general.Trev works at Landrover in Solihull, but his main love is being a computer whizz(unlike me) doing website design mainly and he plays guitar but, sadly,is tone deaf(much to his annoyance). We have 2 daughters(sorry,2 beautiful daughters,amy,19 told me to say!)Vickie is 21,cabin crew for Flybe,(who took over BA Connect) operating from B'ham Int Airport and an aviation anorak! She has 2 plane seats in the bedroom and many model aeroplanes and aviation pictures.Recently she and boyfriend,Liam, have been working very hard on the decoration etc of their own house & recently moved in.Amy,19,passed her performing arts course at Stratford College last year. She was unsure which path to follow after college so she took up a voluntary position at a primary school for children with cerebral palsy in Billingshurst, about 20 miles from Brighton.Since then, she has taken a permanent job there, loves her work and met her German boyfriend,Chris, another volunteer. She loves dancing, teaching dance and her bed! I work part-time at a local Post Office although my 1st job after leaving school was with Barclays Bank.I enjoy life at the PO and many of our regular customers are great fun as are the staff, but there are some proper miserable b***ards who come in weekly to annoy us.Ebay has revolutionised the postal system with many people now regularly sending goods via the PO. To keep me off the streets,I took up a hobby about 15 years ago.I am a member of Bmos Musical Theatre Company and at the beginning of September,2006 we performed Me and My Girl at The Old Rep,Birmingham,(Check out our website www.bmos.org)I had 2 minor roles in this show and generally that's what I prefer but I did play a principle part of a Disciple in Godspell a few years ago which was a fabulous experience.Playing a drunken bag lady in Guys and Dolls was also loads of fun and apparently I was type cast!!cheek! On June 30th 2007 we finshed a week's performances of 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' at The Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre. It marked our Company's 50th Anniversary of 'treading the boards' at this prestigious venue, where many of theatre's great and good have performed on it's large stage! I love music ,both listening and performing and especially anything live ,that includes theatre or live bands.Last year I discovered the fabulous band,Muse(their Wembley concert was awesome!),while listening to 1 of their albums being played in our fave music shop,Fopp, which was in Touchwood,Solihull, but sadly, the whole chain of shops recently closed.RIP,Fopp!! I used to have a drum kit in my bedroom before we were married but when the children were young we were hard-up so I had to sell them, still got my drum sticks tho',just in case!I've also got a stylophone and once played it on local radio(that was after going out to the shops to fetch batteries for it...in my slippers, without realising,oh, the embarrassment!) Much to the family's annoyance and amusement, I am, unfortunately, a bit of a hoarder,I collect all sorts of 'things'.Let me put it this way,you can look at my dust, but please don't write in it!Oh,and Trev thinks that I have a 'Steptoe Gene',yes, you remember Albert and Harold Steptoe, rag and bone men,1970's TV?I love browsing around antique fairs looking for a bargain along with my Mom,but it's also enjoyable looking at the things that I could never afford! I do enjoy listening to the radio and have won some lovely prizes including tickets, books and even a holiday! At the end of 2005,Trev won a competition, flight tickets to New York! What a fantastic experience that was,I sometimes can't believe we have really been there. There's 1 place I must visit again ,one day! In March 2007 I passed my driving test and I'm really enjoying my newly-found freedom in my little green Corsa, should have done it years ago,but there you are!So if you're considering learning yourself, don't think about it,do it,you won't regret it!Move over Penelope Pitstop! I am a bit nosey but I am interested in people and different cultures.I think it's important to be open-minded,I don't presume that someone else shares my views and I hope that others respect my views on people and life.As they say, never put down to malice, anything that you can put down to stupidity. My family, both close and extended are very important to me and I'm sure I have enough love to go round for everyone!
