Books:

Anything at all by Charles Bukowski and of course, all of the amazingly cool books penned by Chris Walter. Love the stuff about the Winnipeg and Vancouver punk scene. From a female punk perspective, also recommend reading 'Cinderella's Big Score' by Maria Raha about women of the punk underground and 'Pretty In Punk: Girl's Gender Resistance in a Boy's Subculture' by Lorraine LeBlanc. Both excellent books about women in the punk movement. Other than that, I read all sorts of things, anything that catches my eye or is of interest to me at any one particular moment in time. Welfare Wednesdays is the tale of a down-but-not-quite-out couple, thrown together by fate and left to survive in a hostile and drug saturated environment. This dysfunctional love story, set in Vancouvers scenic Downtown Eastside, is a return to the harsh reality of East Van. As usual, Chris has a talent for making the sordid underbelly of life seem almost funny. In a sick sort of way, of course.
