YAY SARKO! YAY SARKO! YAY SARKO!

About Me

Sundry things I adore: The sound of a good friend's voice; dancing 'til dawn; free market capitalism; Belgian dark chocolate; the sight of skyscrapers at sunset; fireflies flashing on a sultry August night; Gucci hugging my curves; homemade chai tea; rational egoism; mid-afternoon naps; the U.S. Constitution; men of mind and action.

My Interests

Being alive and happy.

I'd like to meet:

I tend to be reclusive with rare bouts of extroversion, so I don't meet many new people. Currently, I'm just trying to catch up with those whom I already know.

Music:

Nina Simone, Bjork, Nora Jones, Carla Bruni, Pink Floyd, Rachmaninov, NIN, Tool, Frank Sinatra, The Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, Plant and Paige, Tom Waits, Rammstein, Dean Martin, Ministry--up to and before "the mind is a terrible thing to taste", Nitzer Ebb, Portishead, New Order, The Pixies, Paris Combo

Movies:

Submission, part 1

The film's title is a direct translation of the word "Islam". By Aayan Hirsi Ali and Theo Van Gogh, the film provocatively criticizes the abuses endured by Muslim women. Aayan Hirsi Ali, a former member of the Dutch Parliament, faces constant death threats for her portrayal in this film and must be under 24/7 police protection. Van Gogh, the famous artist's great-great nephew, was assassinated less than four months after the film aired on Dutch television. Van Gogh's murderer, Mohammed Bouyeri, maintained that killing Van Gogh over this film was morally right and if given the chance, he would do it again.

Television:

Lately, I seem to watch either the history channel or cartoons. Oh, and my new guilty pleasure is "What Not to Wear." Stacy and Clinton are always right.

Books:

Some of what I read: All of Ayn Rand; Aristotle ("Nichomachean Ethics" & "Rhetoric and the Poetics"); Adam Smith; Milton Friedman; CapMag; The Intellectual Activist; WSJ; Case Books; TuckerMax.com; Palms
