I am here for Friends

About Me

I am a college student at Montana State University-Billings, but I was raised in Oregon. I kind of consider myself a nomad because I do not feel attached to any location on the earth. I could live ANYwhere , especially if its somewhere new. If I can, I'd love to go to every continent (except Antarctica--sorry, not a fan of the cold) as well as every state in the U.S. God has given me an incredible heart for injustice; I want to fix it everywhere I go. The more I see of the world, however, the more I realize that I can't fix it's problems. I can only do a little, and I'm learning to trust that God will do the rest. I've also been learning that God has blessed me with MANY things (health, money, education, freedom...) and I should use all of it to glorify Him. As for my future, I am studying to be a high school history teacher, but after spending this summer in Kenya, my long range goals are being flipped upside down, which is fine with me because NOTHING makes me happier than the idea of serving God in a foreign country for the rest of my life! Bwana Asifiwe! (Praise the Lord)

My Interests

Traveling, history, Christian mission work, journalism, teaching, writing, politics.

I'd like to meet:

Oprah Winfrey, Anderson Cooper, Angelina Jolie, George Bush, Martin Luther King Jr., Robert Kennedy, my future husband (if he exists ;)), and Jesus (but that'll be taken care of some day).

Music:

Just about anything (except most country music) that doesn't have cursing or inappropriate references to drugs or sex. I especially like Christian contemporary music: Switchfoot, Third Day, Jars of Clay, Newsboys, Jeremy Camp, Toby Mac, etc. Oh, and my brother's music...I'm a big fan. :)

Movies:

I really like movies that are based on true stories, especially if they are inspirational. I am a big fan of any movie that promotes unity between races or diverse groups of people. Remember the Titans is probably my favorite movie. I also like Elizabethtown, Stepmom, Ferris Beuller's Day Off, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Television:

TV is pretty much stupid. I just like the news. CNN or BBC. Oh, and sometimes watching sports. ...I hope that doesn't make me sound boring! ;)

Books:

I like non-fiction books. I don't think I've EVER read a fiction book that I have ever REALLY liked. (So if you have any AMAZING suggestions, you might try to convince me). Some of my favorites are: Blue Like Jazz, Friday Night Lights, and In Love with Night.

Heroes:

Umm...Jesus (as typical as that sounds). Maybe I should say something like Captain Planet ??? :P

My Blog

My adventures: an overview

I went to Kenya on a mission trip, to share the love of Jesus Christ with people in another country, to learn from their love for Him, and to come along side their ministries and physically DO so...

From the beginning

I had a farm in Africa, at the foot of the Ngong Hills... Oh. Wait, that wasn't me. I was actually only in Africa for seven weeks with a group of crazy college students from all over North America and...
