State Champz, well its really self explanatory! I mean first we started out as State Champions, then people started saying that we were actually a basketball, wrestling, or football team so we just dropped the “ions†and stuck wit da letter “Zâ€. It all started off with the maker of the name, who is Silas aka the General. Then it just started to evolve as the next member who is now called Ssay, who joined in. As both of the two started working at the same job, then they met Fusion, who is the lyrical assassin in the group. As it was just the three of them, they all got together and then just changed the name to State Champz. They then stared going to the recording studio, making at least 4 or 5 songs a day. Then in no time they finally pushed out there first mix tape that had the whole E-City on Buzz, “Try Yaself Vol. 1†and the number one hit was the song titled “Try Yaselfâ€. As they took that as a small ticket to get threw the door they hooked up with Fly Ty, who is the local DJ in Elizabeth City, and in no time they was being played on WRVS 89.9 ECSU everyday and even making guest appearances. Soon they had to really put themselves out so they started going to all the hip hop rallies and going out Levels just to hear their music get played. Soon they met SaiFire, who was a special surprise because they didn’t know that she could actually sing until she started reciting a verse from Rhianna. Without any discussion, she was in the group. Going back and forth from the studio to the radio station, one of there old friend from school named Supreme called them up saying that he heard the mix tape and wanted to be apart of the group. He had free styled over the phone, and met up with the rest of the group and laid down a hot verse for “Hundred Grand†(O-Kay remix) which is now on the “Try Yaself Vol. 2â€. Then after a week Ssay got in contact with his boy Dimes in Herford who was nasty in the rhymes, gave him a copy of the “Try Yaself vol. 1†then right then and there he officially in the group. Even though he cant always get to the studio, he still putting in work and also is on the Try Yaself Remix. The 6 group members work hard and tend to do their best to prove the world wrong and eventually make it out of little Elizabeth City, NC. So with Silas, Ssay, Fusion, Supreme and Dimes rhyme skills, and extra help from the lovely and beautiful SaiFire, they all stand out to be one of E-Cities best rap groups that are out!
