As a soprano, Andrea was trained classically at Kalamazoo College, enjoying a 4-year vocal music scholarship. After college, however, Andrea discovered that she had a versatile, lower register that was waiting to be explored.Writing and performing her own music is a rather new development in her life. In 2005, Andrea recorded 9 of her own songs at a Kenosha studio which comprised most of her debut album "Heeding the Siren's Call".She recently finished her second and third album which she recorded on her own. "Of Beeswax and Star Charts" is an album of 9 originals and "Celtic and English Folk Songs of Yore" is a Celtic and English folk album. Despite major obsticles and frustrations due to vocal cord problems throughout the majority of the year (nodes and polyps), the projects got finished and are available for sale. Her brother, William the Astonishing, played drums on many of the songs on "Of Beeswax and Star Charts" and Austin Kane was instrumental in the recording of the album, graciously letting us use his equipment to mix and record.Although, in the past, Andrea has most often performed solo or played informally with her brother, the band, "Existential Alice" has manifested itself with Bill Naill aka "William the Astonishing" on drums and Ian "the Fantastic" Link on Bass.Existential Alice's first performance was in January of 2007 at the Korner Bar in Kalamazoo and their most recent show was at Rocky's Bar and Grill in Grand Rapids. The band plans on being more active in this upcoming year and will be found playing in the greater Grand Rapids and Muskegon areas.Andrea is currently looking for a flexible label to sign with which will accomodate her solo work during the school year, as she is a teacher.
