Gryphon

I'm gonna play yez some tunes

About Me

Gryphon is the lead guitarist of Shrine Of The Silver Monkey. He used to be a solo act performing at various open-mic nights in Northern Virginia and Maryland. His most frequent venues were the Firehouse Grill and the Iota Club & Cafe. His music started out heavily blues and rock influenced. However, recently, in his search to find his own sound and style, he started getting in to flamenco and middle-eastern music. His playing consists of rock, blues, funk, flamenco, middle-eastern and combinations of these styles.
In 2005, Gryphon and his friend, Tony Sanchez, started a southern rock band called The Fairfax Booze Machine. It started as a four piece band with two other friends of theirs on bass and vocals, but it ended up being just Gryphon and Tony. They still play together, but they live a couple hours away from each other, so they only play when one is in the other's area.
Today, Gryphon's new project, Shrine Of The Silver Monkey, is still at large. They meet regularly and are constantly writing material. Touring and a CD can be expected in the near future.
