“I am who I am…..If it’s not what people expect, so be it.†Jersey bred MC E-Mid shrugs as he attempts to explain his place in the hip hop world. It’s true; he looks out of place at times. His “Revenge of the Nerds†appearance and his (self admitted) disconnect from fashion trends make him seem unfit for music. All of that changes the second he gets to work on the mic. E combines an intricate, raw delivery with lyricism, unique production, and a conceptual framework that combine to form a musical product unlike anything hip hoppers have experienced. The serendipitous union between these different factors marks E-Mid as a musical Enigma. This is fitting, being that the rest of his life is much the same. He’s an anti-establishment radical who teaches Police Science classes at Rutgers. He’s an opponent of the academic ivory tower who has 3 advanced degrees. He’s a cooperative antagonist, a royal peasant.
E- Mid has opened for prominent acts including Mobb Deep, Naughty By Nature, N.O.R.E., and Bilal. He’s toured the United Kingdom, performing live shows and appearing on Kiss FM and Choice FM, 2 of England’s largest commercial radio stations. He’s embarked on a Midwest US radio tour and performed in the Van’s Warp Tour’s “Code of the Cuts†tent.

E prides himself as being an underground artist. He often refers to MCs coming from the underground as “The Best You’ve Never Heard.†While this phrase may suggest arrogance, "The Best You've Never Heard" is actually an ode. E uses the title as a tribute to all of the insanely talented MCs he's met that have no deal, and no support, but all the skill in the world. Some of the illest MCs alive who live in obscurity. The dude on the street corner who could go off the head for hours. The dude who stuffs his backpack with CDs and hits as many open mics as humanly possible. The small time opening act that always seems to outshine the headliner...E salutes you-you're THE BEST THEY'VE NEVER HEARD.
