Get Set for the Jet Set by the New Kings with the ReEvolution Day Arkestra
Buy Nothing Day, Toronto, 2005
18 musicians, 6 degrees below zeroThe ReEvolution Day Arkestra is a community band open to musicians of all levels who are ivited to join with Samba Elegua, the Kensington Community horns (led by Richard Underhill) and the New Kings to bring music to the streets, to animate space that was previously only automated and to use music to reclaim the commons. The band grew out of street dance jams at PS Kensington over the last few years. We had 37 musicians out in the pouring rain for 2005 World Car Free Day parade, and we had 52 out for 2005's Blackout anniversary party in Kensington market.Come join the band. Whether you dust off an old horn from your school days, or bring out your accoustic guitar to strum along, or maybe you bring a tin can and a stick to bang it with, all are welcome.Once you march down the middle of a street, spreading joy and music and dance, you'll never be the same again.MJ--
