I got my first listen of Drum n Bass (then jungle) back in 1994, a Grooverider set from Pandemonium Andromeda 9. Since then Drum n Bass has been pretty much the soundtrack to my life. I started DJ'ing when i was 13 after buying a pair of belt drive decks of a friend of mine. I then started playin in my local youth club alongside my mates (big up Gazer, Frenzy, Fury, Mefod - those were the days!) After months of practice I decided to step up a notch and get some Technics 1200's. After yet more months of practice and handing out demo mix tapes I got my first real set out in a club in . This was through DJ Hazard who then worked in Music First in the Custard Factory. Hazard passed my demo onto a promoter of a local night called Underground Central who gave me a call and give me my fist set out at the age of 14!
Since then Underground Central stopped runnig and The Gallery where it was held got shut down and taken over. So I built up my record collection over the years, still handing out demos to various producers. I then went on to play for a night called Terminal Sound and Electric kingdom round about 2000 - 2002 where I got regular slots (big shout to Adam Unison and Justin Cybergroove).
In 2003 I decided I'd like to have a go at the production side of things so I did a two year BTEC national diploma in music technology. I got myself a pc and started using Logic 5, soundforge and recycle. I have made over 20 unsigned tracks to date and drop these exclusive tunes in my mixes.
Nowadays I work at Hard To Find Records in Birmingham as well as being a Drum n Bass resident at Panic! @ The Sanctuary, Digbeth, Bham. You can catch me there every Saturday Fortnightly in the DnB room behind the main arena spinning every kind of drum n bass going alongside DJ's Bosith and Disgrace.
I am open to any feedback, requests, bookings etc so if u want to get in touch simply drop me a message or MSN me [email protected]
Peace, love and unity, Koopa
