Influences: Mary..s songwriting seems to be influenced by all kind of styles and musicians. But most of all its clear that her songs come straight from her heart and tell stories bout life. Some say in her voice you can her Aretha Franklin, Etta James or Ruth Brown but also Bonnie Raitt. The groove arrangments of the rhythm section make the songs very funky-done by Thomas Russ on bass and Melissa Hosler on drums. At least there is the bluesy guitarist Chris Fillmore whose playin makes the MBB sound tender, but dangerous, earthy but hovered at the same time. His gods are for sure Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Healey and Elvis Presley.
