Labelled as one of Australia's leading Latin Percussionists, specializing in Afro Cuban forms. Been playing/studying profesionally for 15 years, available for gigs, recordings and tuition etc...Over my time, Ive played with many of the Latin/Salsa bands in Sydney, had the pleasure of performing at almost every club and major festival as well, its been a great journey with its ups and down over the years... Done some touring along the East Coast of Australia, New Zealand, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, performed in South America also. Some acts I have worked with include GONZALO PORTA & Sydney Afro Cuban Salsa Allstars, SON VENENO, MC MAYA JUPITER, ARMANDITO Y SU MECANICA, CUBAN NIGHTS SHOW, OSVALDO CHACON (ex singer from Cuban super band BAMBOLEO) have shared the stage with LOS VAN VAN, OZOMATLI, Jose Alberto El Canario, ARTURO SANDOVAL, AFRO CUBAN ALL STARS, CUBANISMO, collaborated and performed with MARTINEZ(Victor, Dauno and Andro + band - fusion, acid jazz etc), LOS FATALES (Uruguay), SOFRITO/CARLITOS ORCHESTRA (salsa dura/timba)MATANZA(Afro Cuban/Brazilian/Jazz + Funk fusion) MAMBO ASI (salsa), LA CLAVE (salsa etc), SONORA GALAXIA(salsa etc), WALDO FABIAN, David Weir's BLUE TRAIN (funk, pop, jazz etc), IGOR (jazz fusion) and many many more.Recorded audio along with Carlos Mora for PEPSI Samba TV commercial, which turned into the single ASEREKO (listen out for the rumba guaguanco section, that be me!) which can be heard on local radio stations as well as the clubs etc and is often heard remixed/fused with Black Eyed Peas 'Hey Mama' and was nominated for an award for best song in an advertisment, also got a role in the TIC TAC 'Cool and Fresh' TV ad as the bassist! As well as recording the audio (percussion)for that TV ad, also involved in Capital One's credit card TV ad campaign in USA, Puerto Rico and Canada.Also part of the Siemens Mobile phone TV ad campaign. Appeared live numerous times on CH9 Kerry Anne's tv show Mornings, Channel V's Soul Kitchen, CH31 Romperemos and Speed Week and various radio interviews..Have also freelanced with many DJ's in clubs as well as countless local bands in various genres ranging from Latin to Funk to Pop, Reggae, Hip Hop, RnB and so on... Had the absolute honour of spending invaluable time with my all time favourite conguero and ultimate mentor, ANGA. And got private tuition with him during a tour to Sydney with Omar Sosa trio. Was awesome spending time with him, an incredible influence in my playing and life. RIP Timbero Mayor. He sadly passed away of a heart attack in mid 2006.Over the years, apart from my local study, I have had the pleasure and honour of having private tuition with several established master percussionists, the likes of Johnny Almendra, John JB BATANGA Berdeguer (Jovenes del barrio), Louis Bauzo (Jimmy Bosch), Miguel ANGA Diaz (ex IRAKERE etc etc), Manuel EGUI Castrillo (arturo sandoval/J-Lo)) Daniel Lopez (Ricky Martin/Gloria Estefan), Papiosco (Cubanismo/Klimax), Betun (cubanismo/OPUS 13), Eduardo Lavoy (Cubanismo), Luis Conte , also Samuel Formel and Manolo Labarrera from Los Van Van and several others.
