My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Andre Paraskevas
Influences: Grew up listening to 50's, 60's, and 70's Rock. My parents are from Trinidad and Byzantine Greek from Istanbul, Turkey. If it wasn't Calypso, then it was some odd bouncy time signature coming out from the family room turntable.

Upon moving to Toronto, was exposed to Jazz, various hybrid-eclectic projects and other similarly inclined musicians to suit. - soul, reggae, old-school R&B, acoustic folk projects..

Most significant roots realizations are probably from Afro-Cuban on the upright fiddle, the contributions of James Jamerson, Aston 'Family Man' Barrett, Miles, Monk, Ray Brown, Reinhart & Grapelli, Paco De Lucia, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Radiohead, Beck, Chillipeppers, Louis Prima.. They all groove.

Currently listening to Reggae, mainly roots, Burning Spear, Gregory Isaac, Marley, King Tubby, various internet Reggae stations, Led Zeppelin (nice to revisit..). Miles Davis and Thelonius Monk have always been constants on my list..

Recently getting into Bluegrass on the upright ..
Sounds Like: Myself and whoever inspires me..
Type of Label: None
