Born Leonard Bartley On The First Day Of July In The Parish Of Clarendon The Last Of Eight Siblings Given Birth To, By Proud Parents Mama Heckel and Mr. St. Ledger Bartley. Merciless Had Always Dreamt Of Becoming Famous As A Youngster, While Attending High School In His Parish He Would Taunt His Peers With Jovial Rhymes He Would Create While Emulating His Favourite Dancehall Artist At The Time Junior Demus, His Friends Gave Him The Alias Sugar Demus, But That Was About To Change. After Graduating High School, Wanting To Persue A Career In Music And With The Lack Of Recording Studios In His Hometown "Turners District In Chapelton" And Wanting To Be Closer To All The Major Recording Studios In Kingston, Merciless Migrated To Spanish Town. Hoping To Get A Break It Finally Came In The Early Nineties, When He Recorded The Song That Launched His Career "Lend Out Mi Mercy" Upon Completion Of The Song The Producer Then Persuaded Him To Change His Stage Name To "Merciless" Noting That The Song Title And The Name Sugar Demus Did Not Coincide, Which He Agreed. Using A Style Which Incooperated That Of Gargamel And The Don Gorgon That Had Been Used Months Earlier By The Self Proclaimed Warlord, Merciless Adopted It, Put His Own Signature Twist To It And Made It His Own. One Of The Highlights Of His Career Was Sting 2000, Where He Lyrically Challenged Bounty Killer, Beenie Man and Ninja Man And Simultaneously Defeated The Trio.
