About Me

Growing up in Charleston, SC, Afia remembers at an early age reading and re-reading the credits on the back of the first record her parents bought for her and her younger siblings. It was an album by DeLeon Richards that sparked Afia's desire to pursue music as a writer, a singer, and a performer. Afia and her sisters proceeded to memorize every song on both the first and second albums of the young phenom and made a name for themselves as the Robinson Sisters, performing in churches, at charity events, and other popular gospel venues throughout the greater Charleston area. Alongside these performances, Afia sang in the church choir and took piano, violin, and viola lessons.
Despite her promising experiences as a performer at a young age, Afia has pursued anything but a direct route into the music industry.
"I have performed in several choirs, ensembles and a capella groups throughout my life, but I always shied away from my ultimate dream to pursue music whole-heartedly....that is, until a few years ago when I bought a guitar. I started writing that same day and have not stopped since."
Inspired by artists as diverse as Tracy Chapman, John Mayer, Weezer, Anita Baker, Elton John, and Stevie Wonder, Afia writes songs about conflict, hope, and resolution. Afia is thrilled to finally pursue her dream as a singer / songwriter in full force and is grateful to all who have and continue to support her on this journey.
