In September 2003 the band started rocking in a basement of a laundry in the inner city of Mannheim . Under the name "Kebabs of Mannheim" (Döner Mannheims), the band (except To) played their first acoustic cover-set at a University X-mas party. The band was not really satisfied with their name and as Xl came up with a story, that he once had met a very old lady with a strangely funny voice called "Frau Schimmelpfennig" (Ms. Mouldpenny), suddenly the band name came clear! In January 2004 during absence of Xl, the band started to work on own material. Ro introduced the music which later became "Cool Girl" and "Lazy Friend". Zö, Ro and To wrote the smash hit "Say!". With Xl back in the boat, songs like "45 Payment" and "Mouldpenny" were composed. The boys started to record these songs and finally Mouldpennys first EP was released in August 2004.During the recording sessions, Zö left the band to travel around the world. But the rest of Mouldpenny kept on rocking without finding a proper substitute for Zö, in consequence, the band was about to split. Luckily, Xl wrote songs called "Time" and Levitation which saved the idea of Mouldpenny as a Rock project. To, Ro and Xl kept on improving their playing skills and in April 2005 Zö was back! As result of the reunion, new motivation came up and songs like "Krishalla" were born.In Septembre 2005 Mouldpenny hit the road......roads burning all across the land!
