Producer

About Me

"Brian is one of the hottest young producer/engineers around.” Bob Ezrin (Producer, Pink Floyd, Kiss, Jane’s Addiction)Brian Moncarz has a deep passion for music and it is this love that allows Brian to get the best possible performances out of his bands in the studio. Moncarz began honing his organic production style 10 years ago in various Toronto area studios. A musician himself, Moncarz’s list of credits include, The Junction (Universal Music), Kyle Riabko (Aware/Columbia), Pilot Speed (formerly Pilate, Maple Music), Rise Electric (featuring Lukas Rossi, EMI Publishing) and Machete Avenue (Underground Operations/Universal). After producing several successful demos for Pilate, the band’s vocalist, Todd Clark, had this to say, “On a technical level Brian’s talents are obvious, however we all agree that Brian’s personality and passion for what he is recording makes working with him unique.”While attending the 2005 Juno Awards, Moncarz was introduced to legendary producer, Bob Ezrin. This meeting led to the Hall of Famer and Moncarz working together at Whirlwind Sound, a studio that Brian established in 2000. More recently, with the help of Ezrin, Moncarz moved his studio into Round Sound Studios, formerly owned by the late Domenic Troiano (Bush, The Guess Who). Whirlwind Sound is now operating from this new facility and Brian has an incredible home to continue producing and developing great acts. "Brian is one of the hottest young producer/engineers around and Round Sound is one of the best rooms ever built in this city", said Ezrin. "Brian represents the industry's future and Round Sound the glorious past. In promoting the future while honouring that past, I think we serve Canadian music in the best way.”2007 is proving to be the best year yet for Moncarz. The Junction album was released in February and the first single “Components of Four” did very well at Edge 102.1 in Toronto. It has also been picked up by several major market radio stations across Canada. Exclaim magazine wrote “The Junction present to us 12 well-developed, sparkling indie rock tunes featuring amazing production, courtesy of Brian Moncarz, the way their unique, bright songwriting has always deserved.” In March, Moncarz produced a track for Victory Records act Silverstein. The track appears on Fearless Records’ Punk Goes Acoustic 2 compilation along side The All American Rejects and +44. In May, Professional Sound Magazine interviewed Brian for an article that will run in the June issue. Most recently Moncarz engineered an album for We Are The Take with Producer David Bottrill (Tool, Silverchair and Peter Gabriel). In addition, Moncarz has a solid list of bands scheduled to work with him at the new Whirlwind Sound facility in the upcoming months.Selected Discography: The Junction – Universal Music Pilot Speed (Formerly Pilate) – Maple Music Silverstein – Victory Records Kyle Riabko – Aware/Columbia Rise Electric – EMI Music Publishing Machete Avenue – Underground Operations/Universal The Stickup – Verona Records
