About Me

This quote has always resonated with me. Life in motion!
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who are we to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are we not to be?
You playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so other people won't feel insecure around you...
And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others!"
From Nelson Mandella's '94 Inaugural Address
I am Korean, Blackfoot, Black & Irish and I embody many of the good and the not so good cultural characteristics. For example, I'm a fan of a cocktail but I am allergic to red wine. I am family and community oriented but have been known to get into an argument with myself. I'm an athlete but I'm 5'2". I am a walking dichotomy.
I firmly believe in and seek the beauty in people and I am still, at this age, surprised and horrified when people choose to be ugly. People show you who they are, when they do believe them. You are the gold standard for how people are to treat you. I surround myself with people I respect, admire and who make me laugh. I am a true fan of my friends.
After an incredibly challenging year this is what I've come up with... life will always be filled with challenges.
"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life." Souza
Thank you to all the new and the not so new, amazing and sensational people who are in this with me!

My Interests

I'd be interested in more sleep but some of my favorite things are: laughing as an ab workout, gathering random facts and people, being played with/on by Brooklyn my Pitbull, eating while cooking, reading a page turner rather than the same line repeatedly, breaking an honest sweat and the perfect shoe!

I'd like to meet:

Like seeks like.

Music:

Ahh the soundtrack of my life...Alternative, Indie, Hard, Punk and Classic Rock, House, Reggae, Jazz, Blues, Funk, Fusion, Electronica, RnB, Hip-Hop and Metal. I appreciate all music that actually says something even when I don't understand it, I feel it. What a medium! I have no interest in hearing a 16 year old moaning about her sex life, really fast as in Jersey Techno. Love to Born As Ghosts and Alphabet City Street Stars.

Movies:

YES. I'm a movie junkie, scary, sappy, indie and classics. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Resevoir Dogs, A History of Violence, Deer Hunter, Trainspotting, Apocalypse Now, Friday, Blow, Napoleon Dynamite, Cinderella Man, The Karma Sutra, Saw, The Exorcist, A Place in the Sun, Out of Africa, Joy Luck Club, Bridges of Madison County and Terms of Endearment always make me cry. I really like when you watch a great movie again and see stuff you didn't catch before.

Television:

Thanks to the DVR inventors, I actually get to watch Oprah, Grey's Anatomy, The Riches, Weeds, Big Love, Medium, Desperate Housewives, 24, Entourage, Supernatural, College Ball - Go Hoyas! Pro Football and Basketball.

Books:

Classics should always be revisited, always up for short stories, Vonnegut and Poe are always good. Life motivators: Thick Face Black Heart, Non Violent Communication (I think I can, I think I can) Historical Fiction: In a Dark Wood Wandering True Crime: The Last Victim, The Evil That Men Do. I loved Prozac Nation but I'm going to put the razor blade down. At the moment I'm reading The Measure of a Man. To read list: The Hobbit and A Hundred Years of Solitude.

Heroes:

My Halmony! People who truly experience this life and make it possible for others to dream bigger dreams for themselves.
