These Are Some Of My Influences:
Ghostface Killah: Supreme Clientele is in my top 5 Favorite rap albums
Damn Jay Dee (R.I.P) - I listen to Labcabin once a week. The beats, song arrangements, and lyrics are second to none if you like that more relationship/ common man hip hop. "She Said" is a prime example. I hated this album when it initially was released. it wasn't hard enough or funny enough. It was too serious. Now i love it for that reason. But whats up with this video???? Are they really serious?
R.I.P To James Brown. This just shows what kind of show man he was. No saint but a definate showman.
And Now Richard Pryor.....

The beat and the Third Verse are performed by Godfather Don. Still using his older style. Listen to Diabolique to hear syllables marching in crazy patterns to intense rythms. Godfather Don's 1998 album is similar in lyrical style to Diplomats with out the gloss and soul samples. Diabloique is one of my favorite albums because of its uniqueness at the time plus it has Scaramanga on it and the beats thump. I actually feel something when I listen to it. I listen to lots of Diplomats because they love to string words in the similar fashion but with more bravado and flair. By The way, this Video is ULTRAMAGNETIC MCs - RAISE IT UP. Kool Keith got Hip hop Quotable for his first verse. Enjoy.
Sounds Like: A Winnipeg based storyteller of West Indian and West African heritage. Raps with soul, sings with the blues and tells stories like a Calypsonian.Sounds like: Taj Mahal & Buddy Guy singing the lyrics of Rakim & The Mighty Sparrow over rap beats.Rap & Roll, Black & Roll - Black Canadiana & Lots of Caribana.
Good times, for true!!!
