Leaders Off

The Story:
Leaders Off was formed in Vänersborg, Sweden 2002, inspired by bands such as The Stooges and Ramones. They did their first live performance as soon as an appropriate amount of songs had been written, which turned out to be an exhibition in chaos. More local gigs and a demo recording followed within the first year.
As they became better musicians and songwriters they noticed how their sense for melodies increased as well. The instrumentation and arrangements got smarter and more harmonized., but still with a raw edge. The influences had increased and you could now find traces of The Clash, Devo and Sonic Youth in their music. Eventually they found what they themselves regarded the perfect balance between the harder sound from before and the new more melodic style.
The band reached a wider audience and they got more show- and studio-offers. Among other things a recording was made in Svenska Grammofon Studion in Gothenburg. The result were the song ”Die or get old” which became a underground hit.
The succes of ”Die or get old” and a reputation for being an exciting live act, gave them the opportunity to open for several bigger swedish acts such as Division of Laura Lee, Tiger lou and Whyte Seeds, among others. On the road the bands´ contactlist grew and they were offered tours in Norway and Finland during 2005. The tours were so succesful that they returned in 2006 for more shows and a bigger audience.
Now, winter and spring 2007, Leaders off are in the middle of recording their debut album in Svenska Grammofon Studion with engineer Mattias Nyberg and booking shows in mainland Europe for tours during the spring.
