About Me

(You can find my blog at josiahtalkstoomuch.blogspot.com)Music is one of the most important passions of my life. I love listening to it, dancing to it, and hearing and showing others new things. I see it as a very important tool for positive change in the most direct and personal ways possible. I like meeting new people--but only those who are genuine and know who they are, not fake or cocky types. I'm comfortable with who I am, and I like it when I can help others. I think that everyone should support their local music scenes and that everyone should keep their minds and music independent. I write a lot. I'm a student of gung fu. I constantly drink coffee. I've got the coolest jobs on earth. I like drunk adventures on occasion, I like good books, and I like political debates. I also like video games, movies, and comic books--we mustn't forget those. That's pretty much most of it.

My Interests

Music, writing, movies, sarcasm, video games, gung-fu, pez, history, politics.

I'd like to meet:

People who enjoy living every minute of life without worrying about the unnecessaries. Rock stars suck, egos are irritating. People who don't feel like they have to prove anything to anyone but themselves.

Music:

Is pretty sweet. Some of the groups that I admire and enjoy are Oingo Boingo, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, The Weakerthans, The Slackers, Jawbreaker, The Clash, Devo, Desmond Dekker, Mike Park, Johnny Cash, Toots & The Maytals, Men At Work, The Magnetic Fields, Ted Leo, Burning Airlines, Dick Dale, Laurel Aitken, Against Me!, Wesley Willis, Saul Williams, Ken Boothe, Peter Tosh, The English Beat, Andrew W.K., Ray Charles, Public Enemy, Dredg, A Tribe Called Quest, The Dismemberment Plan, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, The Skatallites, Travis Morrison, Eastern Youth, The Aquabats, Gwar, Karate, Skankin' Pickle, The Gorillaz, Rocky Votolato, N.W.A., Hot Water Music, Elvis Costello, Hepcat, Derrick Morgan, The Mars Volta, Marvin Gaye, 3 Inches of Blood, Parliament, Curtis Mayfield, The Urge, Madness, Grandmaster Caz, The Specials, Iron Maiden, Kurtis Blow, Blind Melon, Buckethead, Beck, and a great many local independent musicians. Curse you anonymous burglar who took my CD's in Five Points... curse you.

Some of the labels that I admire are: Suburban Home Records , Still Soft Recordings , Desoto Records , and especially Asian Man Records . You should go to their websites and buy things... because they deserve it. I work for a label called Not Bad Records , and if you feel so inclined you should see if you like anything on it.

Movies:

Kung fu flicks, Zombie movies, Comedies, Old Universal Monster movies, Star Wars, Star Trek, Monty Python flicks, anything with Godzilla or King Kong in it.

Television:

LOST, Home Movies, South Park, Futurama, Family Guy, Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Simpsons, Robot Chicken, Seinfeld, Arrested Development, and anything (no matter how pointless) on the History Channel.

Books:

Books about people who set out to do interesting things in their lives. Comic Books (currently reading The Walking Dead series). George Orwell's books. Politics, history, and comedy. Insights into different places around the world that I would like to travel to eventually--but for now can be content to read about.

Heroes:

My parents, My grandpa, My sifu, Martin Luther King Jr., Bruce Lee, Gandhi, Richard Feynman, Andrei Sakharov, The Funk Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Danny Elfman, Gwar, The Aquabats.

Lots of dimes.

I just got done collecting all of my loose dimes together to buy a couple slices of Benny Blanco's pizza. $2.50 a slice, multiplied by 2, equals 50 dimes sprawled out across my desk. I'd usually feel ...

Forward and Onward, Instead of Just Standing Around

I have my blog on Blogger now, I might start phasing this one out and only blog there once I get rid of the laziness holding me back from fixing the atrocious template and actually making it my blog. ...

No shame.

It was Christmas long ago, I'm not sure exactly what year it was but that same Christmas my parents also got me a Nintendo 64 with Pilotwings if that gives you a timeframe. Anyway, the CD I got that y...

Now I'm tired.

About ten minutes ago I really didn't think that I was tired. I've worked 16 out of the past 24 hours at my new job as a security guard for Presbyterian/St. Luke's Hospital. I took this job because it...

The gimpster.

It always seems like I delay the showering and getting ready phase on weekend days until ten minutes before I'm supposed to be somewhere. The funny thing is, I really don't care. I'm far too lazy righ...

Bus token?

I took the Colfax "15" bus for the first time in a while today and it was as entertaining as always. My car is up in Arvada with my dad while he shuttles my visiting grandparents from landmark to land...

Queens.

My grandparents came into town this week from Queens. I always enjoy seeing them. Picture the stereotypical laughing and gossiping New Yorker senior woman and you've got my grandma. Picture a happy ol...

Tonight is the last show at the Climax for me, and after last nights show and the show before it I feel like I am leaving on the best note that I could. Friday was Single File's Warped Tour stop show ...

The future looks bright.

I helped a very cute girl move this weekend into a sweet apartment complex two blocks from my work. I also had dinner with her parents at the Wynkoop on Friday. I didn't have any nice shirts so she bo...
