UROPHAGIA

In the summer of 2006, Tyler Cantrell started experimenting, writing and recording demos to fulfill a personal interest in Goregrind and Noisecore. Already involved in another band [DDC] as well as performing and recording with thrash-metalers HAVOK, it appeared physically impossible to turn his Goregrind side-project into a fully functional entity.
The first demo ‘Repugnance, Stripped & Exposed’ was revealed to select ears, as an inconsequential effort of Noisegore, composed of pitch-shifted guitars, incoherent burping vocals and literal use of pots and pans as percussion.
More constructive material was presented to Tyler’s brother Justin Cantrell, who was having less success in his ska/punk band. In March 2007, Justin extended his support of the project and the duo produced a genuine effort that bared a much more satisfying approach and entitled their latest stab ‘Urine Consumption’…then they just sat on it.
In the summer of 2007 Tyler’s two primary commitments were clearly unraveling.
The DDC camp was plagued with unproductiveness. Their vocalist was married to two jobs, finding a permanent guitarist seemed impossible, but the departure of their drummer was an unspoken announcement that the band was finished.
Although he toured and recorded bass on ‘Pwn ‘Em All’ Tyler was always enlisted as a temporary member of HAVOK. Despite offering to become a permanent member Tyler was replaced by Justin.
Finally, liberated of other band obligations, Tyler took the opportunity to promote ‘Urine Consumption through Myspace.com to see what others though of his side-project, Urophagia. During the first week of August, 100 CD-r copies of ‘Urine Consumption’ were dispersed around the world and the prospect of taking his little side-project further deemed optimistic.
The behind-the-scene journey of turning Urophagia into an authentic live band took four more months before their first show, December 23rd, 2007. Tyler made friends with a fellow Goregrind enthusiast Jaymes who had his own project ‘EXTREME WHORE DISORDER’ who would eventually become the official live bassist in Urophagia.
In November 2007, Tyler and Justin entered Dirty D’s Studio, with Dave Sanchez filling in as engineer, together they produced 10 fresh tracks, but again delays and lack of finances postponed the new music until April 2008.
Seven tracks were released by VICE-CORE RECORDS on the 3-Band split CD “Disembowelment of Humanity” .The remaining 3 tracks from the November session are being released on a split with HIDIOUS BITCH through GORNOGRIND RECORDS. “Vulva Lingua (I Wanna’ Eat Your Pussy)” is being re-released as a single on a 7”ep sharing costs with five bands from around the world, hosted by VALLEY OF DEATH RECORDS. Among the several compilations that Urophagia has contributed to the most honorable mention will be the release of “Infect Ulcer” on ‘In Gore we Grind’ a collection of death metal and grindcore bands being released by BOOTLEG RECORDS.
Unfortunately, in May 2008, it became very apparent that despite such promising efforts and countless hours dedicated to the project future that Urophagia would fall a part due to so members inability to commit the time and energy to continue...
In the four months of live performances we had the opprotunity to share the stage with Point Blank, Wreched Spawn, Eminence of the Undead, Last Tragedy, The Wake of Suffering, Total Chaos, Dethbox, Make or Destroy, Terminally Your Aborted Ghost, Nunslaughter and did our very last show with Eviscerated Souls and Toxic Holocaust.
