About Me

FTK VIDEOS:
Viper Room-Live
Feed The Kitty (FTK), Jed Mottley (bass) and Jon Shumway (drums) originally hailing from Tucson, AZ, made their way to Southern California and joined up with singer/songwriter Jack Maher and keyboard/instrumentalist Jamez in 2004. FTK has not looked back since, still playing venues such as the Roxy, Key Club, Whisky, and Viper Room to name a few.
To call FTK just another party band is a gross understatement. They are much more than that, having developed a reputation for killer loose shows, and exciting extended musical jams. Underneath their good time/care-free live act are compositions just as sophisticated as any other band, but so pop friendly you could swear you already heard it on the radio.
"I really like to push the limits of my songs musically, but keep it hidden so that you'll be singing along, not realizing the complexity of the arrangements just below the surface." Without Maher's whimsical lyrics and catchy pop vocals, you might think you were listening to Jazz Fusion. FTK has pushed the limitis of songwriting at a time where pop music has been reduced to simply being a vehicle for a pretty face and a quick buck. In contrast, FTK's style incorporates everything from country to rap. That may seem funny on paper, but when you hear their music you can't help but realize just how versatile they are. This might be due to the fact that lead singer and guitarist Jack Maher has played with the likes of John Mayer, Ray Benson (Asleep at the Wheel) and Jonathan Davis of Korn.
"Musicaly I don't discriminate," says Maher, "That's what keeps it sounding fresh and reaches the widest audience."
FTK shot their first music video in 2005 to the song "Break Me Down" and is finishing their first full-length record to be released in 2007. Perhaps today's best unsigned group, FTK has been making LA waves by blowing other bands off the stage (and loving every minute of it).
