BIO
Lupe Posada's work combines real life issues and emotional concepts with surreal themes. This artist is not only interested in telling the story of her life in a visual way but is fascinated with the unconscious mind. She has been keeping documentation of her dreams for over a year now, these recollections have inspired many new pieces and ideas for future projects. Another huge inspiration for this artist is her upbringing in a Catholic Mexican-American home. Most recently she has delved into the art of Dia De Los Muertos (also known as Day of the Dead) and religious iconography. She works mainly with graphite pencil but also paints with acrylics and dabbles in mixed medium. Lupe is currently studying at California State University Fresno for her bachelors in Fine Arts. Her plans are to continue with school and become a teacher of the arts.
In her work she expresses all emotions, sadness, helplessness, fragileness, happiness, freedom and growth. The personal collection of this artist is inspired by these emotions, love, heartbreak, and the outcomes. A big part of her collection is made up of self portraits. The artist feels that self portraits show and tell much more than other pieces. In each she captures the essence of the moment and the story of that time in her life. She feels it is a necessity for her artistic growth.
Another part of her work involves her fascination of human development and anatomy. She has spent much of her time studying anatomical hearts, bone structures, and charts of the developing fetus. With this knowledge she creates her own anatomical peices depicting all forms of development and human organs. The interest of these areas comes from her ongoing search into her unconscious and dream world.
Religious iconography is hugely responsible for her upcoming ideas on art. Big projects in the future entail religious themes such as the birth of the virgin, the lamentation and the virgin and child. Growing up in a Catholic home has inspired her to create religious paintings.

ABOUT
Currently studying for my BFA, concetration on drawing and painting. Ultimately I plan on teaching. I'm also considering an additional degree in psychology. My biggest inspiration and interest lies in the idea of the unconscious mind and the psychoanalytic theory. I want to combine that with the skills I have and will learn about art and the varying techniques.
I like drawing skeletons and anatomically correct hearts. I also paint, sew and craft.
This profile was made to promote my website and artwork, know that I do post buletins about sales and such. If this bothers you, maybe you shouldn't add me. Because of this I have a lot of friends here, but I do reply to comments and messages.
NOTE: Please do not ask me where I buy my fabric or ask for instructions on how I make something.
With that said, welcome to my page and feel free to write me anytime.

Artist Statement 2007:
My art is about destruction, heartbreak, reinvention and love. It has never been about what most people see as an obvious beauty, rather finding beauty in the unknown and unwelcomed.

Throughout the year I have struggled with emotional ties which were released into my drawings and paintings. Many peices were created to unleash the burden and tell my story in an image form.

I have also begun to explore my interests in religious iconography and mexican art which can be seen in my Dia De Los Muertos inspired peices.
