"I regretfully have to announce that this years Rock Search has been cancelled for the first time in 14 years. Although a number of radio stations came to the rescue and were willing to assist in promoting the event, we all felt that there just isn't enough time to fully promote it as much as it deserves by the first semi-final night in October. I felt the bands should also be allowed more time to prepare so they could shine on each of their respective nights.
This is NOT the end of the Rock Search. We will soon discuss the possibility of re-scheduling it for sometime in the Spring of 2007.
My thanks to Cliff (a former Rock Search alumni) and the rest of the Recoil Magazine staff for their unending support of this event. Thanks as well to the merchants who cheerfully agreed to donate prizes this year: Digital Multimedia CD Replicating, Firehouse Music and Mackinaw Harvest Recording Studios. And thanks to you, the musicians who entered and the kind words you have personally passed my way regarding the Rock Search and my career in radio, which is currently "on-hold."

Body: Thanks Aris for all your hard work and efforts. It is unfournate that WGRD couldn't find it in themselves to perseve one of the only events that truely showcases West Michigan Bands. Aris' Home Town Rock Search will never be replaced. No one can do it justice. We are very Proud and Honored to have been picked as one of the 25 finalist; as Aris' Home Town Rock Search truely brought top-notched bands to the stage of the Orbit room. Thanks for all your words of encouragement. We will heed your advice and continue to rock on and work hard. Not gonna lie, the thought of Aris' Rock Search gone forever is almost to much to take. Hopefully we will make it to the Orbit Rooms Stage soon.

Body: I dont know all the ins and outs about putting together a show of this caliber, but I just thought I would run this by you. Let me know if I am way in left field. You already have the dates at the Orbit Room, the bands have been chosen.
Who cares if there are no prizes. The real reward is show casing your music and playing on the Orbit Room Stage.. Let the bands do the promoting via the web. Flyer the city. Would the Grand Rapids Press and the local news stations be interested in the fact this event will go on with or without the support of a local radio station? If they would, then free advertising!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your event has been a staple to the West Michigan Music Scene for 13 years. It would be one of the biggest losses the local music scene has ever seen. I know personally we would jump all over the opportunity to be a part of this event regarless if there won't be a local music station sponsorship or prizes, and I am sure the other 24 bands would too. Thanks for taking the time to read this. The local scene struggles so much already. Losing Aris' Home Town Rock Search just adds fuel to the flame. Thanks again
