The Four Lincolns began in the basement of a house in Walker, MI around 1996. They played out for a couple years, had a decent following, recorded an amateur cd and had several line-up changes before eventually disbanding completely around 1999.In October of 2000, five of the previous members discussed getting back together; Sarah, Paul, Charley, Stacey and Jim. Within months, they were playing out in Grand Rapids, winning local battle of the bands and feeling quite confident. The group played consistently throughout Michigan and some neighboring states for the next three years. In November of 2002 they released a professional CD, Laxadaisical, (recorded and engineered by Michael Crittenden at Mackinaw Harvest records), and had immediate local success. Four Lincolns were a favorite spin on local independant radio station, WYCE, and were nominated for two Jammie awards by the station that year; Best Folk Album and Best Album of the Year. They also submitted their CD to a small label in the South owned by Independant artist, Michele Malone. "Everything She Touches" was chosen for a compilation album put out by this label, Strange Song Bird Records. In the fall of 2003, Jim announced his departure from the group. And, unfortunately, by February of 2004, two more members decided they too wanted to take a break from music and the Four Lincolns disbanded. In the fall of 2007 Four Lincolns had a "What the hell..." attitude and decided to take on some shows, performing the songs off of their 2002 release, Laxadaisical. They have been met with enthusiasm and excitement as if they're a new band on the scene... It's a "play it by ear" relationship for them these days, although the calendar seems to be filling up...*Check out Mobia Post and Lushwood, two offshoot bands consisting of Four Lincolns members.
