Stemming from a musical background, CJ developed a love for music from an
early age, taking piano lessons from the age of 9, studying music theory and
playing bass guitar in number of bands with his friends. However his real
passion lay in mixing and creating music which led him to strike a path of
his own. At the age of 16 CJ started out DJing Garage and House but caught
the DnB bug after his mates introduced him to helter-skelter tape packs, EZ
Rollers and Roni Size. Hearing Roni Size’s “Brown Paper Bag†was the turning
point and CJ knew he wanted to start writing DnB tracks.A move to university in 2002 catapulted him deep into the music scene, and
picked up a residency spot DJing at University along with offers to DJ in
Birmingham. This was the summer of Bad Company’s “Shot down on Safariâ€, J-
majik’s remix of Space Invader and DJ Marky’s smash “LK.†This was when the
real roots of CJ’s own person style began to take hold. CJ was experimenting
with both the lighter and darker sides of drum and bass. However it was the
soulful sounds of calibre, DJ Marky and the newly Solo D-bridge that began
to influence CJ more as time progressed.Forward to 2007 and CJ’s production is fuelled by many different styles of
DnB but his sound is centred around the more soulful, atmospheric and
musical sides of DnB. Forthcoming Releases on Nexgen Include "Vibe 2007 Mix" and "Morning Light." www.internetdj.com also votes CJ styles Artist of the Week describing him as an "Exceptionally talented DnB producer "
