I returned to Northumberland in 2004 to begin recording a stack of songs I'd been working on and to be back 'home'. And it's great to be back! My inspiration is in nature and people - it's in the heather-filled moors and hills, and in the windy, sandy, golden white beaches of the North of England; my music is also loosely about how we live. Travelling has provided a backdrop to some of the songs: there's a preacher's words from Smalltown, USA in 'Gold'; a Swami Durgananda guru from India in Electric Krishna (this microphone is god...) and Tibetan Buddhist monks and Native American thinking (Lame Deer) in Superhighway. My sound is guitar + harmonica + voice. I'd like to say thanks to the people who have inspired me: Dan Driscoll in London for letting me play at Bungies and Glastonbury; Donovan for saying good things to us 'Cape' one night at a show; thanks to dancers who show us something... about our bodies that's sacred; thanks to photographers... who capture an aura that sparks a feeling + recognition; for painters for turning 2 dimensions into 3; for poets struglling with the order of words to make beauty. Thanks! The debut album by me and the band Cape (Carl Cape and the electric band) is available now at...
