Stewball

Stewball was a racehorse, and I wish he were mine. He never drank water; he always drank wine.

About Me

Stewball, a thoughtful horse, was born in a small American town in a "blue" state. As a colt, he learned to walk on two legs and to ice-skate by watching A Charlie Brown Christmas. He earned distinction in elementary school by being imaginative, but his grades went downhill from there, as he failed to "focus" well enough to suit his teachers. Upon earning an interdisciplinary BA in philosophy, creative writing, women's studies, theater arts, and kickball, Stewball became a grocery store shelving specialist in a major metropolitan area. He hopes for a career with a company that places monetary value on literature and philosophy, eating Pink Puffs snacks, and following the Golden Rule. His adventures in pursuit of Truth and Beauty are chronicled in Stewball (formerly Beyond the Box), a comic strip by Kate Isenberg .

Finally, what is an "About Me" without reference to genealogy? The staff of Stewball Comics would like to cite the noble pedigree of Stewball's grandfather, the champion thoroughbred racehorse. It's beneath this heavy mantle that our young Stewball makes his way in the world, striving for a personal best. Sing with us now (and snap your fingers):

O, Stewball was a racehorse, and I wish he were mine.
He never drank water; he always drank wine.
His bridle was silver, his mane it was gold,
And the work of his saddle has never been told.
The fairgrounds were crowded, and Stewball was there,
But the betting was heavy on the bay and the mare.
But a way up yonder, ahead of them all,
Came a-dancing and a-prancing, my noble Stewball.
I bet on the gray mare, I bet on the bay;
If I'd have bet on old Stewball, I'd be a free man today.
O, Stewball was a racehorse, and I wish he were mine.
He never drank water; he always drank wine.
