Todays hip-hop industry, particularly Southern hip-hop, is full of the same type of artists speaking about the same topics and concepts. Yall Street has never been satisfied with just accepting what the media decides to push onto the public as hip-hop. People always gravitate to things that they can relate to. Yall Street has the type of style that everyone can appreciate. They have the hard hitting bass and up-tempo beats that the southern party scene embraces. They also have the creative intellect in their lyrics that true hip-hop fans respect. Their songs depict their many experiences growing up in Macon, GA. In the mid 90s gang violence quickly spread through this mid-sized city. During this period Andrell Hammond a.k.a. Sidesho became so frustrated with being tormented in his own neighborhood that he decided to voice his opinion. Once he played it for his friends in the neighborhood, the Yall Street movement was born. Teaming with fellow neighbor Rickey Battle ( current Yall Street member) and C. Rouse (current manager) they decided to use the creativity from their youth to produce the majority of their new material and they have never departed from speaking out about the things everyone else is afraid to talk about. It has often been said that in order to move forward you must first know where you came from. Rappers have been so caught up with being gangsters, pimps and ballers that they have forgotten how to keep it real. Yall Street has the unique ability to keep their music fun and also intellectual. With these qualities they are sure to both take hip-hop back to where it once was and carry it where it needs to be in the future.
