Cameron Holt is a forward thinking tenor saxophonist/composer who defies predictability through the use of odd meters and contrapuntal melodies. Currently residing in New York and a graduate New School University, Cameron has had the opportunity to further his playing and composing skills while studying with the world’s most formidable jazz masters, including Tim Berne and Craig Taborn. In the course of his studies Cameron has broken away from standard forms, instead choosing to explore innovative approaches to both the saxophone and composition. Cameron’s compositions draw in the listener with unconventional chords structures built in multiple rhythmic layers. The listener’s attention is held as the compositions move through multiple sections, often shifting meters and tempos.
Cameron’s main aspiration is to continue to create music which is both challenging and interesting to the audience. In addition to composing, Cameron is continually searching for like minded musicians to explore his music with.
