About Me

I make comic books for a living. I'm probably best-known as an inker on such books as Green Arrow, Nightwing, The Exterminators and The Irredeemable Ant-Man. I work a lot with my pal Phil Hester. Hester and I are kind of known as a team now, which is cool. Our bold, graphic style has garnered us some acclaim. I've been nominated for Harvey and Eagle awards for my work over Phil.
I'm currently inking Phil on Superman Confidential for DC.
But wait... there's more! In recent years, I've also turned my attentions to writing. I've written two original graphic novels for Oni Press, Union Station and Capote In Kansas. Both were published to positive reviews, and Capote In Kansas was named to Kansas' Notable Book list for 2005, the first graphic novel to garner such an honor.
On the writing side of my career, I have a ton of stuff in various stages of development. My first work for Marvel was published a few months back... Daredevil Annual #1, which featured Black Tarantula. I'm finishing up my second DD thing now. I'm also working on a new graphic novel for Oni... a futuristic revenge tale set on Mars, called Blood Red. I'm teamed on that book with the super-talented Shawn Crystal. It's a very exciting project for a number of reason, not the least of which that it's allowing me to step away from the historical fiction genre, which I dearly love, and into another genre I love... violent and introspective noir fiction.
There's a lot more going on with possible writing projects, but nothing I can talk about yet. I'm trying to move my career slowly towards being a full-time writer. I don't want to be squinting at ink lines when I'm a geezer!
I live in Kansas with my lovely wife and two children. When not bent over a drawing board or staring at a computer, you can often find me a golf ball or bent over a glass of Jack Daniels.

DD Story Wrapped!

As I write this, the Jayhawks are only up by 2 against the puny Davidson whatever-the-hell-they-ares.  Unaceptable!  So, if I misspell things, please forgive me... it’s just the basket...

Inking Fool

I'm spending Labor Day much as I've spent the entire holiday weekend... bent over the drafting table inking the stupendous Tony Moore on Exterminators.  It's a great book, and fun to work on, but...
