About Me

I'm a freelance writer covering the entertainment scene and a graphic designer I'm a five-tooled geek in film, comics, music, graphic design and sports. You can read various interviews, reviews and articles I've done at http://WWW.POPCULTURESHOCK.COM and I've written for Current Magazine in Ann Arbor, The Cleveland Times, and Angle Magazine.
I just moved to San Diego from Michigan with my wonderful wife but my heart will always lie at the bottom of the dirty and dingy Cuyahoga River in the banks of Cleveland, Ohio. I do miss C-Town, but I don't miss ever having to shovel snow for the near future. I live and die by Cleveland sports teams but am savvy enough to be called an extreme sports fan. I also know better given all the disappointment over the years. Believe me, it has shaped me...I geek out at the NFL Draft too so from March through April I listen to nothing but NFL Radio on Sirius breaking down the draft team by team. Love it. If you're dealing a poker tournament, I'm bringing my chips. If you want to talk film, I hope you have a few hours to spare. I don't pay for mainstream tripe, but I'll catch it on TV or if you want to loan it. In otherwords, I'm a film snob. Stuff with meat and worth my dimes.
I drop everything to see on of my favorite DJs spin or musicians come to town. I love retro-styled sneakers, Pumas and Addidas mostly, and never resist a chance to add to the collection if I find a treasure trove of a shoe store. Long for the sound of old school hip-hop and the modern musicians who maintain that torch burning.
I like sub-cultures and am fascinated by international cultures of the UK, Brazil, Japan, Hong Kong, France, and urban Europe in general. Captivated by people with moxi and can chew the fat about their passions. Don't relate? Get a hobby! You'll be thankful for it.
Below is a small sampling of 60 recommendations of my favorite comics. I think they just touch the iceberg of what's out there for your reading and viewing pleasure. Wanna know more about anyone of these? I'd be delighted to tell you if you ask nicely.

My Interests

Living in the art houses watching movies all day, finding a shaded area and reading a stack of comics all day, looking at art, finding a scary corner and writing all day, tapping my dark self and designing and creating on the computer all day, admiring the animatiors, graphic designers, and illustrators of our generation while never forgetting what's come before; Cursing at my television or satellite radio watching or listening to the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavs, Cleveland Indians, Michigan Football, jumping into texas hold'em tournaments, traveling around the world and country to get more stamps on my passport and frequent flyer miles; Listening to all music except for country. And there's nothing I find better than sitting and chilling with a really good soundtrack or movie score, or listening to the Howard Stern show while I am doing all of the above.
