DJ Cubanito a.k.a. Alex Carmenates

Alex Carmenates is the CEO of Salsamania Entertainment Inc. a company dedicated to the development, production and promotion of Latin music and artists in the U.S. and abroad. The company was founded in October of 1992 and the main headquarters are located at 14922 Nuttall Oak Drive, Houston, Texas 77082 from where Alex Carmenates oversees the entire operation.

Salsamania Entertainment opened a branch in Chicago, IL. in 1994 and their third branch in Washington D.C. May of 1998. Under the umbrella of Salsamania Ent., there are several other companies and services provides, such as; Salsamania Latin Record Pool, Crispy Cream Productions, Salsamania Promotions, Black n' White Records, Salsamania Productions, and Salsamania Publishing.

Salsamania Latin Record Pool is now 70 members strong, and the recipient of the Best Latin Record Pool award for the Mid West region of the US at the 2003 and 2006 Latin Dance Music Awards in Miami during the Winter Music Conference. All of their members are legitimate radio, club, or mobile programmers, including some of the top Latin Djs in the world, such as, Baron Lopez, and Norty Cotto. They cover a large portion of the central United States of America region which includes the following cities: Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, New Orleans, Chicago, Washington DC, El Paso, Las Vegas, Austin, Atlanta, North & South Carolina, Orlando and outside of the US in Switzerland, Sweeden, Italy, Mexico and Canada.

Carmenates has been one of the main organizers and developer of the National Latin Record Pool Directors Association (NLRPDA) and currently presides over the board of directors

Cubanito is about to start a new Latin gay resindency at a Houston super club on Thursday nights, and often travels to Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, NYC and many other US destinations playing at such prestigious night clubs as Billboard Live, Score, Club Ibiza, Chromium, Zen, The Exibit, WetBar, The Church, Station 4, and at important event such as Power Of Houston 4th of July Celebrations, Budweiser’s Noche De Pasion, BMG US Latin Artist Showcase and many more open air festivals sponsored by Radio stations that play his remixes and other product placements companies. He was contracted recently to be the opening DJ for all the Thalia High Voltage Tour concerts in Texas. He has headlined in various European engagement at such clubs as Republika De Cuba Strand in Bucharest, Romania, and most resently at Caliente Latin festival and Kaufleuten Klub in Zurich, Switzerland.

Carmenates has been a journalist featured in various industry magazines such as Radio & Musica, Farandula and wrote the Latin Rhythm column in DMA Magazine for five years. He is frequently invited to moderate and speak a various national music industry panels dealing with Latin music such as; Radio & Musica Convention, The Winter Music Conference, Midem and various others.

As DJ Cubanito, Carmenates has remixed and produced several songs for various artists such as Jocelyn Enriquez’s # 1 Billboard dance chart hit "When I Get Close To You" (Tommy Boy), as well as, "1, 2 Step" for Ciara feat. Missy Elliot and Adassa, Gloria Trevis's extended dance anthem of "Todos Me Miran" which she has just performed on the opening of Premio Lo Nuestro, Paulina Rubio's new single "Nada Puede Cambiarme", Joaquin Torres' "Diosa", Monster Taxi's "Memory Wack", Lucas Ptrata's "And She Said" which were # 1 hits on Billboard magazine as well. He has also remixed Ray Guell (Sony), Xtasy (Caiman), Bamboleo (Ahi Nama), Chuly (Six Tones), Ruben Vela, (Hacienda), Muzik Box (Dimelo), for which productions he has been in a the running for a Grammy nomination two years in a row.

He was featured as one of the top DJs in the US in RMM's "Hot Street Remixes" (RMM) CD released internationally in 1995 (The Melting Pot Mini-mega mix) and his latest productions, Latin House Extravaganza (Thump/Universal) & Mi Cosa Latina (Dimelo) have sold over 24,000 copies each. Some of his latest remixing and production projects include work for artists such as Alma Nunes, Chichi Peralta, Elvis Crespo, Miss Lupita, Adassa, and DJ Cubanito (Dimelo).

Some of his latest remixes include "Pregon De Chocolate" by Issac Delgado, "Amor Narcotico" by Chichi Peralta, both which have earned these artists Grammy Awards... "Agua De Fruta" by Ruben De La Cruz, "5,4,3,2,1 (Move Your Body)" by Mass Appeal, "Salsa Pa' Los Triufadores" by Orquesta Tabaco & Ron, an original track entitled "Mira Como Se Menea" by Chuly, “Francisco Guayabal” for BMG US Latin’s Beny More remix album entitled “The King Of Son”, “Ciao Triztesa” by Barbara Higuera for Medusa Records, Don Manuel’s “Figaro” tribal remix for Toy Robot Records, Miss Lupita’s “Soy Mexicana” tribal remix and "Delirio" Extended Club Mix for Cantu Ent., and Lucas Prata's "Y Dice" reggaeton remixes for Ultra Records, "La Botella" by Mach and Daddy (Universal) Monter Taxi's "Boogie Makes A Splash", "Get Off', and "Memory Wack", Paulina Rubio's "Nada Puede Cambiarme" Caribbean Nights Extended Remix, (Universal) Kinto Sol's "Los Que Luchamos", and Gloria Trevi's "Psicofonia" remixes.

DJ Cubanito's entertainment company, Salsamania, also provides an independent promotion service to all labels through "Salsamania Promotions" and has been responsible for the top charting hits "La Botella" by Mach & Daddy, "Down" by Rakim & Ken Y, Los Ilegales, Otra Nota, Ivy Queen, Adassa, La Factoria, Toque D'Keda, Eddy K, Loe, Jay D, Juaquin Torres, Don Dinero, Baby Rasta, and many others.

Salsamania has also provided artist bookings for many Latin tropical groups as well as dance acts. Salsamania has received Gold and Platinum Albums for such artists as Nino Segarra, Tito Rojas, Big Boy, Pochy Y Su Cocoband and India for their involvement in the promotion of such artists.
