Pleased to meet you! My name is Nicholas Williams, and I'm 24 years young in the city of Chicago as a new resident. I'm glad you've stopped by, and through several or few clicks of a mouse your eyes and ears have landed you here. I'll be brief. Among many other things I love to do, I write the material, sing the songs and play the instruments, and organize the music for the project "Whetherman."
Quickly: Ex-college athlete with plenty of downtime after several injuries where my priorities, time, and a majority of my ambition became devoted to making music a career. I've been fiddling with the guitar for 7 years, piano for about 3, singing for 6 (although only carrying a tune for 2 of them), and writing expressively for over 10. I'm interested in evolving and culturing myself for the better. New faces and real conversations, traveling and engaging in different ways of life, experimenting in my own progressive style, observing with patience in all it's forms, and caring consistently for whatever the passion may be each day are all moral goals I look forward to applying in my life. Friendliness is my most accessible quality, and being somewhat of a flake at random times is my most deceiving downfall, only because I need solitude. Being boring is not something I'm accustomed to or plan to get comfortable with.
Fresh off the boat, is an 11 track album titled "The Great Lull" that I released on myspace and Snocap on May 30, 2008! The rest of the album can be heard at purevolume.com/whetherman
These are the bear necessities... so if you'de like talk please don't hesitate, I'm open minded, and I'm sure I'd like to meet you.
Any booking inquiries should be directed to me, here on the space. Enjoy your day!
Fame is but a fruit tree
So very unsound.
It can never flourish
Till its stalk is in the ground.
So men of fame
Can never find a way
Till time has flown
Far from their dying day.
Forgotten while you're here
Remembered for a while
A much updated ruin
From a much outdated style.

We are the music makers...and we are the dreamers of dreams.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.
-Willy Wonka
This is where I have always been coming to. Since my time began. And when I go away from here, this will be the mid-point, to which everything ran, before, and from which everything will run.

Bull features 7 great saccharine-soaked acoustic tracks. The addictive melodies are anchored by Whetherman’s earnest voice.
The disc is a reposeful listen on that drive back to school, chock full of Midwest DIY flavor.

From the opening chords of Bull, there is one thing that is more likely
than all others to grab the listener's attention, and that is the palpable
vocal soul with which Williams delivers his tales. Much like Joss Stone or
John Mayer, Williams has the type of voice that belies his age, race, and
a host of other superficial factors. What we are left with, then, is an
emotive exhibition across the record that never relents. From the longing
melancholy of "Moon" to the heart-wrenching "Storm In Seattle," Williams'
breathy croons leave the speakers with an abundance of emotion and
conviction - the sort that renders his tracks instant classics finished
with a true sense of timelessness. Likewise, tracks like "The Dove and the
Doctor" prove an ability to accelerate the pulse of the songs, while still
maintaining the lovelorn mood so artfully established prior.
-Steve Henderson of Absolutepunk.net
Bull carries on a gentle beauty and clarity that is every bit as refreshing as it is enjoyable. Fans of Ray Lamontagne, The American Analog Set and Damien Rice will almost definately find themselves falling in love with this EP.

Whetherman has a vivid sense of lyric and his expressive vocal stylings are honest, distinct and illuminating.
