I don't know if I can live up to the silliness quotient set by my friends. They're really good at it but I'm not sure about my skills in that area. Oh, also, if you don't know me, please don't talk to me. Wooly rhinos really aren't that social.

Music:

Yes. Oh, you mean what music do I like? Dan Bern. Sibelius. Leonard Cohen. Women who sing the blues. Simon and Garfunkel, and just Simon. And how could I forget Billy Bragg? OR the Black-Eyed Peas, and Ozomotli? Or Santana? Man, where was my head?

Movies:

Wim Winders' Wings of Desire. And lots of others...

Television:

Bleh. Deadwood. and The Weather Channel. The colorful swirls are calming and it reminds me that many things are beyond my control. How come there's not a question about Radio? I am an NPR junkie. Maybe Susan Stamberg and Scott Simon are my two favorite radio journalists. Oh, and of course Daniel Shore. Wow! He's almost as old as me-- he's gonna be 90!

Books:

Yes. Oh -- hmmm. Historical novels. Naugib Mafouz. Books about plants, animals, bugs, gardening. Mary Renault. Books about cultures, modern and ancient. Books about art.

Heroes:

People who know how to live with what they need, not because of what they want. Also: good parents.
