I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

General: I love listening to and playing music. Currently in the cover band Deja Groove (for more info www.dejagrooveband.com) primarily playing keys, guitar & vocals. Previous bands/projects include Vanderhoof (progressive melodic hard rock) White Hot (variety rock cover band) Moxie (variety pop cover band) Raven Blue (original blues/jazz/pop). I really love most styles of music & music trivia! Some of you may remember me from managing Senor Loco's Nightclub in Sumner in the late 90's. I enjoy almost all comedies (senseless to sophisticated)and most science fiction movies. Movies and songs that spoof real life in a clever way and are twisted are the best! Local Seattle-ite for the diversity not for the weather, although this summer has been fantastic!. I'm the father of 3 grown kids and have 1 baby granddaughter yet people still swear I am much younger than I am?!? Immaturity or good genes? Family and good friends make for a great foundation in life. I really like the color purple...can you tell?

My Interests

Music, hmmm and more music; specifically more cowbell, funky clavinet, live horns, Power POP, Funk, melodic Hard Rock, songs that can rock even with vocal harmonies! I enjoy nature, in all its diverse glory. People who have original thoughts intrigue me. I am only one of the many Jeff Powells in this world....

I'd like to meet:

Positive AND successful people. People who like to have a good time and laugh. Sense of humor is a MUST! People who are active but also know when to just "hang". People who are interested in similar things...and supporting the local live music scene!Hanging in the studio with Paul McCartney or lunch with Aisha Tyler would be a treat...and I'd like to meet anyone who has the gonads to dance like this!

Music:

My preferences change all the time with mood but I would have to say major influences are: Beatles, Paul McCartney, Monkees, Kansas, Styx, Journey, Foreigner, Aerosmith, Boston, Def Leppard, Supertramp, Toto, Kenny Loggins, Squeeze, Bryan Adams, Michael Jackson, Billy Squire, Alan Parsons Project, Earth, Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, Level 42, Jethro Tull, Elton John, Billy Joel, Billy Preston, Spyra Gyra, Chaka Khan, Maroon 5, Blue Man Group, Weird AL, Twisted Tunes, Dr. Demento

Movies:

Spinal Tap, Planes Trains & Automobiles, What Dreams May Come, Field of Dreams, Benny & Joon, I am Sam, Pay it Forward, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Dark City, 13 Ghosts, Multiplicity, Office Space, Monty Python, Austin Powers, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Jerk, 3 Amigos, Empire Records, That Thing You Do... Movies that motivate and entertain are the best!

Television:

CSI Vegas, Without A Trace, Law & Order SVU & CI, Heroes, Numb3rs, Lost, Studio60, House, Medium, ER, Millennium. Comedies-My Name is Earl, The Class, Scrubs, Chappelle Show, Conan O'Brien, Monk, Friends, Classic Saturday Night Live, Mad TV. Star Trek & TNG series...and the Daily Show still provides more real news than the networks!

Books:

I have read most Stephen King, a bit disturbing but brillant at dragging you in any story line. Especially all The Dark Tower series and Insomnia. Michael Crichton, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Chronicles of Narnia, the books are still better than the movies!...Billboard Music reference books, health oriented books, Rolling Stone & Blender Magazine. Any music trivia book! Fascinating!

Heroes:

People who dare to be real...and still can be fun!

great female singers of the past?

Just a thought after listening to a lot of "current" music and how there are so few really good singers with great pitch and control over their voices. There seems to be a "stand out" great female voc...

Lost dog

Today I returned a lost dog. It was a beautiful red setter who was running up and down the road looking confused. I really felt it was just a matter of time until he was hit or killed. It was a very s...
