Opinion is not a substitute for reason

About Me

In 2003, it finally dawned on me that my previous band whom i had fronted had split. I took a small while to look around the Isle of Man's music scene and noticed this was happening all too often, so I decided to go solo, because after the great times you have in a band, you must learn something: people will always want to do different things, and have different ideas.
I hastily wrote my first album late in 2003 and after recording the first few songs, I decided to ditch it. I suffered from a bout of writer's block for the best part of 18 months, before writing an album's worth of material in pretty much a week. The songs needed fine tuning and everything went well - until I realised I had written them as band songs, and not as solo acoustics. So i decided to take the plunge and, after previewing the songs live for a few months, began recording a full band album, inviting guests and friends to play the parts I thought they should. This only caused another problem - How would I get the message across in a live performance that these are now band songs, without having the band? Simple! Become someone like Charlie Harper, Trent Reznor or Josh Homme, and hire and fire whoever I wanted, whenever I wanted, in a CHRIS FLOOD BAND! So far I have had the pleasure of hiring my own brother Mike (Epitaph, Postcode) as drummer, Dan Keig on Bass (formerly of Anomaly and Second Sight) and Dan Ankers (Weirdo, and solo artist) on 2nd guitar. And then of course there's me, Chris Flood. (El Flujio Sanguineo, Weirdo, solo artist)
Mike had never been in a band before he became the very first official member of the Chris Flood Band. Nervous at the outset, he has matured into a unique and solid drummer and with his detemination, effort and skill he is the driving force behind the band. Often coming up with non sensical beats, the rest of us look at him as if to say "what the fuck?" Yet he pulls it out of the bag and cracks smiles all round. Dan Keig had already been picked out by some as a rising star in the scene so I took it upon myself to add him to the fold literally minutes after Mike joined. Gladly he accepted and has provided a controlled and thoughtful method to his bass playing. Smooth and reserved, Mr. Keig knew instantly how to throw his weight in the band. A few months and many gigs went by before we decided something was missing. That something was another guitarist, and having previously worked with him during our stint in 'Weirdo', I enrolled Daniel Ankers. Dan also has his very own style of playing that is difficult to describe, but his natural talent to find the right note at the right time at the very first time of asking has proven a great asset to the band in helping the songs develop and has had a massive creative influence on the new material since he joined. He has helped define the sound which most of you are becoming used to now.
In July 2007, The four of us together decided Mike should leave the band. He has been replaced by Keith, who is learning very fast and will change the drive behind the band completely!
The album is now in its later stages, and may be completed before the end of the world. No guarantees though. Until then, sit back and enjoy my vocals upon the tracks available to listen to!
