About Me

*LoZee* is the fruit of a profound wish to write my own songs. When I grew up, I was listening to English songs mainly. So I found myself writing the most of my tunes in Shakespeare's language.
I suppose that each artist got some key moments, why someone's starting writing music, wants to play in a band, hanging out with friends, feeling good and getting into a musical climax and the mystery of music... - Flashed by the purchase of my first electric bass when I was 13 ( I worked hard for it , selling potatoes in a grocery ;), I found it really cool, especially as a counterpart to my abilities as a cellist.
When I got through my professional studies of classical music , I already felt that it's not my only destiny to play in a philharmonic orchestra. I mean I love that music, but it is for my taste not so much of an interest to interpret its musical heritage again and again. To start my own project was the perfect escape, away from those beautiful standards. Having performed in the chamber orchestra of Jon Lord in 1994 was also one of those "perfect" moments, when I felt, that to feel the heartbeat of a public is a gorgeous thing...
Back in 1999 I was getting more serious into playing sounds on my cello and to cover it with some shy words out of my mouth. It was a really interesting process for me to discover my own voice through my musical understanding and sensibility of a classical trained cellist. I got more and more confidence into my vocal-cords and felt 2003 that it is time to get some serious work done: the recording of my first album... After having spent some weeks in New York in spring 2003, I got to know Peter Scherer, with whom one year later we recorded the first sessions in Brooklyn, with Skuli Sverrisson on the bass and Ben Wittman on drums. - The first professional sounding tracks of my music. We did the basic tracks for "Big Blue Sky", "Close Your Eyes" and "Moonshine" over there. In my free time, back in Europe I recorded vocals, all cello parts and some other overdubs.
In the meantime I was starting to perform my music in artistic environments like contemporary dance, art-galleries and on some small stages. On the other hand I saw myself playing on big stages with great bands like the German punk-rock group "Die Toten Hosen" , being their cellist for the "MTV unplugged" shows and for "GLASHAUS" - one of Germany's main acts in R&B,Soul, Hip-Hop.
All these unforgettable moments underlined my motivation to bring *LoZee* to a higher level. Back in Barcelona I recorded 11 songs with the BIG help of my musician friends in a little, nice studio in September '05. Gorka Prieto and Jordi Navarro were the mixing engeneers who did a fine job.
- Please welcome "LoZee" in the real world and I hope 2 see u somewhere out there :) !
