Victory is near.

About Me

Life has blessed me greatly, and I don't thank God often enough for it. I'm 30, and my life's just getting started. I have a wonderful wife of 6 years, the best friends a guy can have, I'm in the best physical shape of my life, and I'm living out my dream.
I play guitar for xlooking forwardx. We play old-school hardcore/punk, and we're on Facedown Records.
Music is a HUGE part of my life. I am formally trained in music theory, and I listen to just about everything. Check out my blog, where I review all sorts of stuff. I like writing, and love to discuss my musical thoughts and discoveries with others.
I am also the head of the Gardencore Network Booking Agency, where I book tours for bands.
I'm self-employed, and plan on being that way for life. Speaking of which, if you want to buy some video games (from Atari all the way to PS2), then drop me a line. I make my living selling video games. I'm quite knowledgeable about the older systems.
I am a product of the hardcore scene, and have been sXe for 11 years. I will carry my sXe convictions and the positive values I've espoused through xlfx to my grave, but I have recently become a bit disenchanted the scene. It's largely due to the fact that the community aspect is no longer the focus. Common interest in music does not a scene make, as Confucius would say. I have found myself having to unlearn a lot of the bad mental habits the scene cultivates, as well. Since about 2001, it hasn't done much for me musically, either.
I am long past the point of caring what people think of what I do with my life. I have repressed myself for years, not giving things a chance because of the stigma that surrounded it. I have allowed myself to play down to the level of a culture that has stigmatized certain things in life by ridiculing those who are into it. I am a work in progress of reforming myself from such reprehensible methods of thinking.
I discovered that you can only truly discover what something is about if you separate it from its followers, something that modern culture is unable to do. This applies to all things in life – religion, music, even NASCAR, which I now watch on a routine basis. So long as what I do doesn’t affect me being the best person I can be to my wife, family, friends, and myself, it is fair game. Call it whatever you want; this is my life.
That being said, I’ve been into this stuff lately, though I’m by no means limiting myself to the contents of this list:
my beautiful wife Tess, Baseball, Soccer, NASCAR, Football, Rush, Black Sabbath, Helmet, Keane, all kinds of Prog Rock, Brit-pop, Melo-death, Nu-metal and Corporate Hard Rock, Dynasty Warriors & Samurai Warriors, Dr. Mario, DDR, lifting weights, Harvey Birdman, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Conservative politics, and other stuff that I’m sure I’ll post later.
Like any of this stuff? Add me, and talk to me about it. The only thing I ask is that you PLEASE USE PROPER ENGLISH when communicating with me. Not much irritates me more than kids who think "UR" represents "You Are", and whose entire message, no matter how long, is one long sentence. Not with me? Hit CTRL-W now.
