DJ's include Mr. Jackie "Allsorts" aka Daddy Vinyl (We got soul!,good vibes!) , Johnny Vegas (Hot funky & sweaty), Glynn Etherington(retro-beat),Martin D'Souza (cloud nine) All the above dj's have something different to offer. Being self confessed vinyl junkies these sessions are strictly vinyl affairs, with years of digging for gold in dusty record crates under their belts, you won't find them playing the latest "now thats what I call funk" cd's!Heres what radio n'ptons Griff had to say"Car boots, charity shops, you name it," says Jackie Allsorts, "anything from a pound to a few hundred quid".Sifting through dusty old records is just the start. Where it ends is two successful club nights and a yearly mini-festival for a bunch of hardcore music fans.The Daddy Vinyl collective began six years ago. A one-off night at Grendon Lakes which proved such a great success, it continued.Jackie had been cutting his teeth at The Buzz alongside Stevie MJ in around 2000. But half-hour sets for someone with thousands of records simply isn’t long enough!So over the past six years, a funky revolution has been taking hold in Northamptonshire'Full, Fat & Funky became Daddy Vinyl’s outlet for dance-floor fillers with groove. The guys aimed to put a night on ‘to make people dance’.The first few nights were anywhere and everywhere they could get a suitable room to play in, until eventually they landed a residency.New venue Fire & Ice was just opening its doors as Full Fat looked for a home.And things were going great until the venue decided to close - on the afternoon of one of the guy’s nights.Still, the show must go on, and with only hours notice, a new venue was found.Through their attention to detail, ear for a tune, and guerilla-club approach, they’ve managed to host some special nights and build a dedicated fan-base.And come the summer will be another mini-festival event in the Bedfordshire countryside.If the aim was to get more than half-hour sharing great tunes with appreciative people, consider it well and truly achieved!
