Calvin also has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy but he has never let that stand in the way of his musical dreams. In June of 2004 Calvin and his parents opened a country music theater called CALVIN RAY’S LIVE MUSIC in Leitchfield, KY. Calvin sings at and manages the music theater. Located on Highway 62 also known as the Blue Moon of Kentucky Highway a stretch of Road near Rosine, KY where Bill Monroe the father of Bluegrass was born. The theater has hosted headliner concerts by Joe Diffie, Little Jimmy Dickens, Don Williams, Ricky Van Shelton, John Anderson, Pam Tillis, Mike Snider, The Grascals, 2006 Nashville Star Tour, and Julie Roberts. Calvin performs there on saturday nights year round with his outstanding band the Calvin Ray Band.In just 9 years Calvins singing ability has won him many musical honors. Including 3 appearances on the Nationally Televised JERRY LEWIS NATIONAL TELETHON in HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA IN 2001,2003. This year he is singing on the 2006 JERRY LEWIS TELETHON IN LAS VEGAS. In 2001 Calvin performed at the ACM GOLF CLASSIC in BURBANK, CALIFORNIA at the CASTAWAYS RESTAURANT. With the likes of Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Montgomery Gentry, and Charlie Daniels. In September of 2004 Calvin appeared in an issue of INTERNATIONAL MUSICIANS MAGAZINE. In 2000 Calvin made it to the KENTUCKY STATE FINALS of the JIMMY DEAN TRUE VALUE CONTRY SHOWDOWN. Before opening his music theater he sang at Jamborees and Music Theatres throughout Kentucky, Indiana and Nashville. Calvin has won many contests throughout his career some of which were at the Nashville Palace in Nashville, TN. Where Alan Jackson, Randy Travis and Ricky Van Shelton got their starts. Calvins musical styles include New Country, Old Country, 50s Rock, and the Blues.Calvin now has his own music theater and a cd being played on radio stations WORLDWIDE. He hopes to have a song in the TOP TEN someday and TOUR the country performing at other places around the country.
