Got somethin’ good, gonna bring it home soon......

About Me

'Soon, Lewis Cohen took to the stage accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. What a powerful voice! He played a wide range of songs from the greats such as "They're Red Hot" for an opener, followed by "Catfish Blues". Needless to say the Robert Johnson songbook was visited and we heard "Travellin' Riverside Blues" and "Terraplane Blues". Lewis's slide work has to be seen and heard to be believed. Tom Waits and Lowell George songs came to life and one of my favourite Muddy Waters' tracks "Can't Be Satisfied" was in fact very satisfactory' - Blues In Britain Magazine

Hey there. Thanks for taking a moment to look at my page. I’m a guitar player and singer based in the south east of England. I write a few songs too. I play in two great bands - The Kickback doing rock 'n roll covers and The Jumpsters playing blues, jump and swing - and perform solo.

My solo sets include a mix of songs by the likes of Robert Johnson, Bukka White, Muddy Waters and Fred McDowell, varied with songs written by great sondwriters like Lowell George, John Hiatt and Tom Waits. Somewhere in amongst all that I sheepishly slip in a few original numbers. For me, the name of the game is to try and take music seriously but not take myself seriously (well, not too seriously anyway). Here's a typical set list:
It makes for an evening with plenty of changes of pace and, hell, even a few sing-along opportunities. In solo format, I'm also available for support slots so if you're an electric band and fancy adding a different dimension to your gigs then get in touch!
The music I put up on this page is all recorded at home in the convergence of mics, tangled leads and old diet coke cans that I call a studio. If there's a piano on a track, chances are it's my friend and bandmate Mike Wesson (he's on Myspace too...check him out), otherwise it's all yours truly, using a mix of real and programmed instruments - it's easier than keeping a band captive in my spare bedroom and cuts down on food and girly mag expenses
