About Me
Arne Harris (died October 6, 2001) was the "Senior Executive Producer" of Chicago Cubs baseball for many years on WGN-TV. His first memorable moment came in 1960, when Don Cardwell pitched a no-hitter against the St. Louis Cardinals, which prompted fans to rush onto the field at Wrigley in celebration. Arne, then a page for WGN, was enthusiastic enough to get an interview that he risked bodily harm to keep fans away while talking to Cardwell. During games when the Cubs were losing badly, Harris would have the cameras shoot into the crowd, so television viewers could look for friends and family in attendance. Many of these fans were young women, which would draw young male Cub fans as viewers. After his death in 2001 (the night before the final game of the season), WGN held tributes and remembrances from players, WGN employees, and former Cub players between innings of the game. The Cubs also placed a flag of honor on the roof of Wrigley Field, with one side reading "Arne" and the other reading "WGN"
