Poetry is hard labor of the imagination.

About Me

I think the most important thing is laughing. Right after that, communicating.I'm always out to see a meeting the minds, making some mark on those around us which can help them, help us understand and improve ourselves.I grew up on science fiction and fantasy novels, because they provided some hope that the world would be surprising. Fortunately, as I've gotten older, the world has sustained that surprise.I've been a journalist, and a gay activist, and worked in politics and now I'm back in the arts doing PR. Who knew? I always loved words, and learned early on that they could crack the locks and solve the problems, and make the pain and ruin the love all at once.I figure happiness is something we make, find and grow. I could have turned into a truly jaded person at many points in my life...being a gay man with a disability doesn't make life easy, in any way. But thanks to my family and friends, and a little old-fashioned luck (or whatever you want to call it) everything's turned out a-okay.So, that's that. Let's chat.

My Interests

Give me one you think I haven't tried...and probably I'll go for it.

I'd like to meet:

People who like to read, write, get all artsy and probably ride a roller coaster or two. Basically somebody who can keep me interested, and find the same in me.

Music:

Yes: Motown, Classical, 80s pop, Rufus Wainright, Jazz, Irish Folk, The Postal Service, Iron and Wine, anything else, really.

Movies:

"The Anniversary," and "Antie Mame," and "City of Lost Children" and "The Triplets of Belville," and "The Incredibles," and "Wait Until Dark," and "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," and "The Matrix," and "The Lord of the Rings," and "Star Wars," and "Swimming Pool," and we could keep going...today I like The History Boys a whole lot

Television:

PBS. And things children shouldn't watch.

Books:

Do you know "Choose Your Own Adventure" books, or what a prose poem is? Have you ever spent all day in bed, because the next page was coming? Read something because it was at hand, even if it was a trashy paperback? Hit on someone because they were flipping through a book you knew? That's me, and more...get the picture?

My Blog

The uh-oh weekend

Well, I don't think anyone is really reading this yet, so I could make some wonderful tawdry confessions, and they'd drop like stones into a well, unreported and unknown. But...unfortunately I have n...

Sooo...is this thing on?

Well, I guess I've dipped my toe into this big MySpace pond, we'll see what happens now. I'm up late, trying to figure out how to turn into a PR guru in two weeks, and boy, I think that's not as easy...
