About Me

Official Biography
Toledo native Rob Brug discovered early in life that music was in his blood. Enthralled with heavy metal, Rob quickly learned and soon began to master the art of "powerhouse" metal drumming, playing hard, fast, and ferocious with a seriously deep "back pocket groove" combined with a level of finesse and technical ability that is unrivaled by most. By the time he was sixteen, Rob began making quite a name for himself, playing professionally in local bands, and becoming a familiar face at area recording studios as a session drummer, playing everything from rock to funk to country and everything in between. At the age of twenty one, Rob got his first big break when he was asked to join legendary metal band, Damien(Select records) who enjoyed fame not only from MTV’s Head Bangers Ball, but worldwide success with their first two releases, “Every dog has its day” and “Stop this war”. Rob jumped at this opportunity and soon hit the studio to record “Angel Juice”, the bands third, and heaviest release to date (co-produced by Brug). Extensive touring followed, and the album received rave reviews (many comparing Brug to the likes of contemporaries like Mickee Dee and Scott Travis). After five years Damien eventually said goodbye to their fans. But Rob wasn’t ready to say goodbye just yet. Joining forces with Former band mate, Damien/Chastain bassist Kevin Kekes to form a more traditional hard rock band, Bones Garage, while simultaneously putting together a new line up of an old band, Hester Prynn, which would see Rob step out from behind the drum kit for the first time, playing guitar and handling the majority of writing duties. Both bands did very well for quite awhile. In 2001 it was time for a change. Rob decided to take a break from live performance to focus on writing and to work on developing the perfect “theatrical” metal act. A phone call in the spring of 2004 would put an end to this quest, bringing Rob to Detroit Michigan for an audition with the legendary HALLOWEEN "The Heavy Metal Horror Show". Robs bombastic style and aggressive approach was a perfect fit with the band. With Brug on board, Halloween entered the studio to record “Horrorfire” the bands fourth full-length release on their own "MCM Records" label, along with an e.p. entitled Evil Pieces (both co-produced by Brug). Released in June of 2006, “Horrorfire” continues to receive rave reviews in Metal magazines worldwide, solidifying Robs reputation as one of the most sought after Metal drummers around. One quote reads as follows: "you can’t help but follow along to the thumping underside created by drummer Rob Brug and Bassist George Neal. In fact, “Horrorfire” is one of the best metal albums to come out in the last year from a drum standpoint". Rob is currently in the studio with Halloween working on the follow-up “Terrortory” which will be released in early 2008. Rob is also in the pre-production stage for an all instrumental release, which he will take on the task of performing all instruments. If you have not yet heard the name Rob Brug, keep listening, you soon will.
