Schwofen is a beat orientierted electronic experimental minimal music project from Aachen, Germany. For Schwofen, ’minimal’ means achieving a large sound spectrum with little technical expense. Using few tracks, but working with self-generated, versatile samples, is one method of operating. Another is to always break with hearing habits, arranging not as one is used to, but often just to the contrary.
Schwofen exists since June 2006, its members are Gregor Jabs and Marius Schillak.
Gregor Jabs has been musically active since mid of the 80..s, having his roots in the field of Ambient and Experimental. In April 2006 his first solo effort "Stamen" has been released on Jeans Records (www.jeansrecords.com), the label for experimental music he and Marius Schillak run along with Frank Rowenta.
Marius Schillak has been active as a DJ for Britpop-Indie-Alternative (www.popstadl.de) since the early nineties and has always been a big supporter of electronic music. His main job is graphic design, so he is also assuming responsibility for the appearance of Jeans Records.
To avoid musical incest, it is vital for Schwofen to release their own material on an other label now.
