AUTUMN DAY STRANGLER [2002 - 2007]

Southern metalcore at its finest.

About Me

On New Year's Eve 2002 Autumn Day Strangler was formed out of the ever-inspiring sheer boredom eternally induced by Florence, South Carolina. Garrett Turner (bass) and Kyle Hilliard (drums) had previously been working on a dead-end band project called The Next Best Thing when they teamed up with Rene Lancaster (guitar) and Joey Balazs (vocals... and trumpet allegedly) to form this untitled band project that would later be known as Autumn Day Strangler. ADS started along the lines of a punk/pop-punk experimental band with vague ideas of where it was going, until in February of the year following its inception ADS acquired a second guitarist named Joel Moore . It was then that the band truly started taking form and soon Joel Moore was playing lead guitar and Rene Lancaster rhythm. As the band became more serious about making music, and Joey Balazs became more serious about higher education, the band and Mr. Balazs split ways leaving a bit of a vocal gap in ADS' musical endeavors. For the next year or so ADS would constantly mold and refine itself, evolving from the punk sound to metalcore with vocal responsibilities being passed from Garrett Turner to Joel Moore , and most prominently Rene Lancaster . During this time ADS went through a total of six names before finally settling on Autumn Day Strangler, playing their first concert under the name Side Project, and a few others under the name Alive & Proud. Other names included Ted Dancin', One Last Chance, Old Man Turner, and Syracuse St. One album was produced by ADS during this time entitled "Our Old Stuff Was Better," however due to the band's changing of style and evolution in musical craft, ADS currently disavows any knowledge to the existence of such a CD (though some would agree it is still good). After about a year of being truly vocal less, and trying out one or two unsuccessful singers for the band, Autumn Day Strangler fan/friend Jim Ellis stood up and demanded to sing. ADS was at first reluctant, but decided to give Mr. Ellis a chance, to which he proved to be the completing factor in ADS sound. Autumn Day Strangler then went on to record their second album "Warriors of Metal" with then Through the Eyes of the Dead bassist (and current guitarist for From Graves of Valor ), Jeff Springs . With style and vision acquired, ADS' musical endeavors continue to skillfully evolve, forever representing their love for articulating powerful and complex songs. With this in mind, it was realized that Garrett Turner no longer fully fit the band's rapidly developing aspirations, and though reluctant at first eventually parted ways with the group. Currently Mr. Turner is working on a new unnamed band project that will hopefully emerge into the music scene in the near future. With that, Autumn Day Strangler acquired Allen Andrews as their new bassist, who is currently breathing new life into ADS with creativity and impressing skill at the bass. Autumn Day Strangler continues to constantly write new music and hopes to record their third album at some point in the near future. Stay tuned...
